Frederick Antwi graduated with honors from Harvard University in 2001 with an A.B. in Economics. As an undergraduate, he also studied Politics and Philosophy at Oxford University. Following graduation, he advised consumer and retail clients at McKinsey & Company and executed a turnaround strategy at Gap Inc. Subsequently, Frederick joined mid-market private equity firm CHB Capital Partners, and later transitioned to Goldman Sachs, where he worked in the firm’s Principal Investment Area (“PIA”) and Americas Special Situations Group (“AmSSG”). Currently a student at the Stanford GSB, Frederick serves as Co-President of the Private Equity Club and Co-President of the Africa Business Club. He is also the Class of 2008 Goldman Sachs MBA Fellow. After completing his studies at Stanford, Frederick plans to return to Goldman Sachs in New York.

Jishnu Bhattacharjee

Jishnu Bhattacharjee graduated with MSEE from Georgia Tech in 2002, and with BTech (Honors) in Electronics and Communications, from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur in 2000. Before joining the GSB, Jishnu has worked for five years in silicon-valley as technical lead in start-ups as well as mid-size companies. He brings in to the MBA class of 2008 hands-on familiarity with start-up dynamics, experience in managing cross-functional teams and strong connections with the silicon valley entrepreneurs and venture capital community. Last summer, Jishnu worked with a VC firm in the valley on sourcing and diligence of semiconductors, communication systems and clean-tech investment deals. Jishnu is the co-president of the GSB VC club and intends to work in the venture capital industry after graduation.

Hugh Browne

Hugh Browne graduated with honors from Washington University with a BS in Computer Science in 2001.  Following graduation he worked for several years in the Office of the Chief Technology Officer at Morgan Stanley where he co-founded the vendor risk management group and focused on business development.  He then joined Morgan Stanley Venture Partners where he focused on late and expansion stage technology investments.  Currently a student at the Stanford GSB, he is part of the leadership of both the Private Equity and Venture Capital clubs.  After completion of his MBA program, Hugh plans to work in the private equity field.

PIC Role: Hugh is organizing the panel on the Future of Venture Capital Investing.

 

Vishal Dixit

Vishal Dixit is an MBA candidate 2008 at the Stanford Graduate School of Business. He started his career with the United Nations in New Delhi. He went on to serve under the Indian Prime Minister’s Committee on Infrastructure, where he focused on large-scale restructuring and privatization transactions in multiple sectors. He has principal investment experience with Macquarie Holdings’ airports/aviation buyout team in New York and with Actis Capital in London. He graduated from University of Bombay with a B.Com in Financial Accounting and an M.A. in Mathematical Economics & Econometrics.

PIC Role: Vishal will manage procurement and co-ordinate the global investing panel.

 

Evan Garmaise

Evan Garmaise graduated from Princeton University in 2002 with a BSE in Computer Science. Upon graduation he took a position as a Financial Technology Associate at Chicago-based hedge fund Citadel Investment Group, LLC. After four years of developing internal operations software Evan left to enter the GSB. At Stanford he has taken leadership positions in the Private Equity Club and the High Tech Club, and focused his coursework on finance and technology. He hopes to pursue a career in a technology-related business.

Yuval Grill

Yuval Grill graduated from Harvard University with a BA & MS in Computer Science in 2003. Following graduation, he worked for several years at Mercer Management Consulting in NYC, focusing on his work in technology and media and private equity advisory. Currently a student at Stanford GSB, he is part of the leadership of both the Private Equity and Finance & Investment clubs.  After completion of his MBA program, Yuval intends to work at Davidson Kempner Capital Management in NYC, in the Risk Arb/Event-Driven Equities group.

PIC role: Yuval will oversee several aspects of marketing and co-ordinate the panel on value creation.

 

Aly Hadibhai

Aly Hadibhai graduated at the top of his class with undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada. He worked as a manager in the assurance and advisory practice for Deloitte in various offices including Toronto and Silicon Valley.  Aly is pursuing a career in private equity investing and this past summer completed an internship during which he led a $200 million investment.  Also keenly interested in technology, Aly has worked with two Bay Area consumer internet businesses in the past year.  Outside of work, Aly strives to serve his community.  He has served as a mentor through the Big Brother program and sits on the board of non-profits.  At the Business School, Aly is an editor and the chief operating officer of the student newspaper, the Stanford Business Reporter. He is also a recipient of one of the five Siebel Scholarships awarded annually.

Lydia Jett

Lydia Jett graduated from Smith College with a joint AB in Economics and Government in 2002. Following graduation she was a strategy consultant with MMG Partners, serving financial services companies. Subsequently, Lydia joined JPMorgan’s Leveraged Finance division, focusing on technology, media and telecom clients. Prior to Stanford, Lydia worked at Goldman Sachs in the Principal Investment Area (PIA), evaluating and executing private equity investments across a range of industries, including media, education, healthcare, energy and general industries. At Stanford, Lydia is actively involved in the Private Equity Club, GSB Gives Back Charity and the Golf Club.

PIC role: Lydia is working on the keynote speaker, as well as with Aly Habibhai to manage the panel on LP perspectives.

 

Mike Kahn

Michael Kahn graduated magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Dartmouth College in 2003 with a BA in Economics and Government. Following graduation, he worked as an investment banker for Morgan Stanley and made private equity investments on behalf of the Morgan Stanley Real Estate Funds (MSREF). Thereafter, Michael worked for Silver Lake Partners, where he completed several buyouts in the technology, telecommunications and internet industries. Michael is actively involved in the Private Equity Club and I Have A Dream and serves as a Director on the National Board of Directors for City at Peace.

PIC role: Along with Alex Rolfe, Michael will coordinate the Trends in Private Equity panel.

 

Scott Kauffman

Scott Kauffman graduated magna cum laude from the University of Richmond with a BS in Business Administration in 2001. Following graduation, he worked at BB&T Capital Markets, a middle-market investment bank in Richmond, VA.  He then worked in the private equity group at American Capital Strategies.  Currently a student at Stanford GSB, he is member of the Private Equity and Finance & Investment clubs.  In addition, he is a co-coordinator of the C4C Weekend in April.

Mike Kiedel

Mike Kiedel graduated from Harvard University with a BA in Economics. Following graduation, Mike trained and successfully qualified for the Sydney Olympics where he represented his native Germany. After retiring from swimming, Mike worked as an investment banker at Deutsche Banc Alex Brown in San Francisco. Subsequently, Mike worked in an operating role at a retail company and later started and sold his own retail business. Last summer, Mike worked at PIMCO in a capital markets role in PIMCO’s credit and high yield product group. After completing his MBA, Mike intends to work in an investing role in the Bay Area.

PIC role: Mike is involved in recruiting keynote speakers and in helping keep track of event finances.

 

Francisco Larrain

Francisco Larrain graduated summa cum laude from Universidad Catolica de Chile with a BS in Electrical Engineering and a MSc in Theoretical Physics in 2004. Following graduation he worked in fixed income and derivatives trading at Deutsche Bank and later as an analyst and Portfolio Manager at Bancard a Chile based multistrategy investment fund. Francisco also is a Venture Corp of Endeavor. He is a member of Finance & Investment, Private Equity and Family Business clubs.

Ethan Leidinger

Ethan Leidinger graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University in 2002.  Thereafter, he worked in the Quantitative Strategies Group at Goldman Sachs in both New York and London, during a period in which the Group raised over $20 billion in capital.  Currently a student at the Stanford GSB, Ethan is involved in the Private Equity, Finance & Investment, and Retail Clubs.  After graduation Ethan plans to return to New York to work in private equity.

Ronald Paz Vargas

Ronald Paz Vargas graduated from Claremont McKenna College with a BA in Economics in 2001. He then worked in investment banking at Credit Suisse First Boston (CSFB). After two and a half years at CSFB, Ronald worked at ClearLight Partners, a middle market private equity fund, for another two and a half years. There, he completed several buyouts in the business services and software industries. As a student at the Stanford GSB, Ronald is an active member and leader of several clubs including the Private Equity Club and I Have a Dream.

Following graduation, he spent five years working in the private equity industry at Commonfund Capital in Wilton, CT, and Friend Skoler & Co. in Saddle Brook, NJ. Youli is currently a student at the Stanford GSB and is part of the leadership of the Finance & Investment Club.  Youli intends to work as a public markets investor after obtaining his MBA.

Chris Pierce

After graduation, Chris will join Greenhill Capital Partners. Prior to business school, Chris worked for three years at Nautic Partners, a middle market private equity fund, where he completed transactions in the business services and manufacturing industries. Before Nautic, he worked for two years at Citigroup Investment Banking in their New York office. Chris graduated from Yale in 2001 with a BA in Political Science.

Alex Rolfe

Alex is in his second year at the Stanford GSB, and a member of the Private Equity Club. After graduation, Alex will join Alpine Investors, a San Francisco private equity fund investing in small and mid-sized companies. Prior to business school, Alex worked for two years at Golden Gate Capital, a San Francisco private equity fund, where he completed transactions in the retail, semiconductor, and software industries. Before Golden Gate, he worked for two years at Bain & Company in their New York office. Alex graduated from Dartmouth College in 2002 with a BA in East Asian Studies.

Keith Schneider

Prior to coming to the GSB, Keith was a Real Estate Associate at Stanford Management Company where he managed real estate development projects and structured ground leases on Stanford’s behalf. He underwrote a variety of acquisitions, dispositions and ground lease extensions on commercial properties located on Stanford land. Before that, Keith was an investment banker with Lehman Brothers in New York, specializing in M&A in the Natural Resources Group. He graduated from Tulane University in 2001 with a B.S. in Economics.

PIC role: Keith will coordinate the real estate panel and roundtable discussions.

 

Alberto Tovar

Alberto Tovar graduated from Stanford University with a BA in History, Political Science & Psychology in 1997. Following graduation, Alberto was a graduate fellow at the University of Oxford in England.  He returned to the States to work for several years in different capacities in the nation’s largest public works program, Los Angeles Unified School District’s $20 Billion construction and asset management division.  His career at the District culminated with a two year stint as the program’s chief of staff before helping start a new real estate development company. Currently pursuing a joint degree at both the Stanford GSB and the Law School, he is a student representative on the Stanford Board of Trustees.  At conclusion of this academic year, Alberto intends to intern at a private equity firm for the summer.

Anna Tye

Anna Tye graduated from Duke University with a BS in Economics and a BA in Spanish in 2003. Following graduation, she worked in Morgan Stanley’s Global Capital Markets division within Investment Banking, focusing on equity and equity-linked transactions for Morgan Stanley’s technology, media, and telecom clients. After Morgan Stanley, Anna worked at a $1.0 billion long/short equity hedge fund as a research associate, focused on the fund’s largest investment holdings. Immediately before Stanford, Anna worked as a private equity associate at Arcapita, where she completed several buyouts across multiple industries. At Stanford, Anna is actively involved in the Private Equity Club and Challenge 4 Charity, and serves on the Board of Directors of Access SF.

PIC role: Along with Doug Urbanski, Anna will coordinate the “What I Wish I Knew Then: Career Tips” panel.

 

Doug Urbanski

Doug Urbanski graduated from the University of Illinois with bachelor degrees in Accountancy, Finance and Business Administration. Following graduation, he worked for several years as a consultant in Deloitte & Touche’s Capital Markets group focused on strategy and financial issues for the energy industry. He subsequently joined Morgan Stanley’s M&A group before departing for Framework Capital Solutions in Singapore. In addition, he has worked in operational roles at renewable energy companies: Bloom Energy (a Kleiner Perkins Portfolio Company) and Acciona Energy. He is both a Certified Public Accountant and a Chartered Financial Analyst. Currently a student at the Stanford GSB, he is the CFO for the Private Equity club and serves on the Finance Committee for the Stanford Board of Trustees. After completing his studies at Stanford, Doug intends to join Compass Equity in Orange County, CA.

PIC role: Doug serves as the CFO for the Conference where he is responsible for overall planning, budgeting and logistics. He is coordinating the “What I Wish I Knew Then: Career Tips” panel with Anna Tye.

 

Rohit Varma

Rohit Varma received a BS in Computer Science from Georgia Tech in 2000 and an MS in Computer Science from Stanford in 2004. Prior to business school, he was at ITU Ventures in Los Angeles, making venture capital investments in technology spin outs from universities. Rohit was previously at Montgomery & Co., an investment banking boutique based in Santa Monica, CA.

PIC role: Rohit will co-ordinate the hedge fund panel and assist with marketing.

 

Puru Vashishtha

Puru Vashishtha graduated with Masters in Economics from Delhi School of Economics in 2003. After graduating, he worked with ICICI Bank, India as Economist and Financial Markets Strategist, covering global fixed income and currency markets. Subsequently Puru traded in global currencies. At Stanford GSB, Puru was an elected senator. He has been in leadership roles in Finance and Investment and Private Equity clubs. Over the summer Puru worked with Fir Tree Partners, a NY based hedge fund, initiating their India investments. He is interested in building a career as a successful emerging market investor.

PIC role: Puru will manage the logistics of the conference and will also co-ordinate panels and roundtable discussions.

 

Christopher Yip

Christopher Yip received a joint AB in Economics and SM in Computer Science from Harvard University in 2003. Following graduation, he was a strategy consultant with McKinsey & Company, serving telecom, media, healthcare and financial sponsor clients. Subsequently, Christopher joined TPG Capital (formerly Texas Pacific Group), evaluating and executing private equity investments across a range of industries, including healthcare, financial services and general industrials.
