Planned activities:

  1. Panel Discussions: We intend to hold topic specific panel discussions jointly with other GSB clubs like E-club, High Tech, Health-care and Energy to present leading venture capitalists and entrepreneurs to the GSB community. Through these events, our fellow students will gain from the insights, experiences and perspectives of the panelists in the respective emerging areas, and also will have the opportunity to network with the pioneers in the emerging fields.

  1. Networking events: We will plan sector specific networking events with several VCs and also lunches and social mixers with individual VC firms to enable our fellow students connect with VCs and bounce their entrepreneurial ideas off the VCs in a very informal setting and also seek career advice.

  1. VC pitch series: Together with the E-club, we would be organizing VC pitch series. We would help connect to appropriate VCs in the interested areas. We would also provide help to our fellow students with refining their pitches before presenting to VCs by connecting them with appropriate local experts among students and faculties within the GSB.

  1. Help with recruitment and education: For those interested in summer or full-time opportunities with VC firms, we would actively help students network with the VCs and find suitable opportunities. Given that the positions with VC firms are usually not advertised within the on-campus recruiting process, networking becomes even more important for VC jobs and VC club’s constant endeavor to increase the GSB connections with VCs will go a long way here. We would also organize educational sessions like VC-101 for those not exposed to the venture capital basics and also some advanced sessions like how to craft an appropriate term-sheet, what kind of funding one should aim for, the legal issues of venture capital, fine (or ‘blurred’) line between early stage ventures firms and late stage ventures or private equity firms.

  1. Abroad VC investments: With ever increasing interest of VC communities in the booming economies and talents of India, China and other developing countries, VC cub intends to promote connections and networking of the GSB students with the VCs specifically interested in abroad investment opportunities and will work with other GSB clubs like South Asian Students Association, Greater China Business club and also East European and Latin American students to organize networking events and bring the associated challenges and opportunities to the fore-fronts. We also intend to initiate and enhance GSB connections with entrepreneurial and investment communities outside Stanford like The Indus Entrepreneurs (TIE), that are very active in fostering start-ups both in the US and in developing nations.
